If you have sign language skills (Professional or experience related), enjoy meeting people and would like the chance to use your gift to help others, this may be for you! Hands In Motion is a ministry team providing volunteer sign language interpreting to festivals and events. This can serve as a chance to improve your skill, fellowship and just have fun.We need help with all areas from conversational skill to music interpretation. We will be working from stages (for music), from lecture tents (for some of the speakers), and just mingling. We plan on having many skill levels, finger spellers to music interpreting. We will evaluate as a group to determine what area you will be able to cover best by your skill. We will provide you with a badge to identify you to those who may need help, and signs will be posted to help others identify us We do many events that are indoors as well as outdoors, if you hate the outdoor life we can still use you! This is a missionary opportunity. The service we provide is volunteer, and can be long hours (depending on the response of the deaf community). Each interpreter provides their own transportation to the event, as well as sleeping arrangements (personally, our family takes a large tent for ma, pa and littlest three, 2 single person tents for the older 2 boys, sun tent, inflatable pool, coolers, and a small army of lawn chairs. You know this is more of a "survivor" series than a vacation! ). As I said, an adventure! But we are looking forward to seeing God at work in many people's lives! Hands In Motion has made arrangements with each festival or event for admission and hospitality provision. If you need financial provision beyond what is outlined above, we suggest you speak with your local church about supporting you as a short-term missionary. We would be happy to talk to those in your church tha may be able to help you. This is a mission as you are providing a service of interpreting the Christian message to people who need the interpretation to get the full benefit of fellowship.
